The Ministry of Labor and Skills, in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), today launched a new mobile application aimed at supporting Ethiopian migrant workers to access safe and regular migration channels and exercise their rights abroad.
The application, named LeMengede, provides multilingual guidance on labour rights and responsibilities, destination country regulations, and access to Ethiopian embassies and consular offices. It also offers practical advice on fair recruitment, safe migration practices, and emergency support services.
The Ministry of Labor and Skills underlined that LeMengede is intended to empower Ethiopian citizens by equipping them with timely and reliable information. This will contribute to safer mobility and expanded opportunities in the global labor market.
The ILO emphasized that the initiative forms part of the Fair Recruitment Initiative and the EU-ILO-UN Joint Programme on Bridging Recruitment to Reintegration in the Middle East (BRMM). The application is considered a unique tool that strengthens the protection of migrant workers and promotes respect for their rights throughout the migration journey.
The launch represents a milestone in Ethiopia’s efforts to enhance migration governance and reinforces the ILO’s commitment to promoting fair recruitment and decent work for all.
