About the Fair Recruitment Initiative Knowledge Hub
The Fair Recruitment Initiative Knowledge Hub is an interactive online platform that convenes a global network of experts and practitioners to find solutions, through trust and cooperation, to the challenge of implementing fair recruitment.
The Knowledge Hub welcomes membership from governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations, recruitment agencies, enterprises, media, and civil society organizations around the world.
The Knowledge Hub:
Hosts a repository of the latest resources, including publications, data sets, articles, training resources and learning materials
Hosts discussion forums and communities of practice on key thematic areas
Allows members to create a professional profile and network and build partnerships with colleagues from around the world
Hosts live-streamed events, such as peer to peer learning sessions and report launches
Allows members to receive updates through a quarterly newsletter
About the ILO Fair Recruitment Initiative
The Fair Recruitment Initiative (FRI) was launched in 2014 as part of the ILO Director General’s call for a Fair Migration Agenda.
The Fair Recruitment Initiative's vision is to ensure that recruitment practices nationally and across borders are grounded in labour standards, are developed through social dialogue, and ensure gender equality. Specifically, they: are transparent and effectively regulated, monitored, and enforced; protect all workers’ rights, including fundamental principles and rights at work (FPRW), and prevent human trafficking and forced labour; and efficiently inform and respond to employment policies and labour market needs, including for recovery and resilience.

The Fair Recruitment Initiative Knowledge Hub is an ILO multidisciplinary Initiative contributing, among others to the implementation of Objective 6 of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration and to SDG Target 10.7 to facilitate orderly, safe, and responsible migration and mobility of people, including through implementation of planned and well-managed migration policies, and SDG 8 on decent work and economic growth. The Initiative is guided and implemented in cooperation with ILO constituents at the global, regional and national levels. The International Organisation of Employers (IOE) and the International trade Union Confederation (ITUC) support and promote actions to enhance fair recruitment in line with the 2021-25 FRI strategy andparticipate actively in its implementation.
The ILO is also fostering strategic partnership and coordination with other relevant organizations and networks active in this field, to ensure complementarity, enhance impact and susta inability and avoid duplication. These include the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the Institute for Human Rights and Business (IHRB), Verité, the Responsible Business Allaince (RBA) the ILO Global Business Network on Forced Labour, the Business Advisory Group on Migration and Alliance 8.7.
This Knowledge Hub platform was established under the framework of the Global Action to Improve the Recruitment Framework of Labour Migration (REFRAME) project, funded by the European Union and the Integrated Programme on Fair Recruitment (FAIR II) funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
Under the Fair Recruitment Initiative the ILO coordinates and delivers a number of Development Cooperation projects which include important fair recruitment components, including TRIANGLE in ASEAN, Safe and Fair, Ship to Shore Rights, the FAIRWAY Programme, JLMP Priority and JLPM Action, and BRMM, among others.
