The ILO took part in Summit 2025 in Lime (Peru), the third annual conference on LGBTQI+ diversity and inclusion in the workplace in Peru and Latin America, organized by the Peruvian NGO Presente.
This in-person event gathered representatives from civil society, the private sector, and international organizations to explore ways to promote fairer and more inclusive labour practices. The ILO’s delegation included Francesco Carella, Regional Specialist on Labour Migration and Youth Employment; Virginia Rose, Specialist on Enterprises, Cooperatives and Rural Development for the Andean countries; and Gloria Zambrano, National Coordinator of the Integramos project.
Together with other key speakers, including Fernanda Gobbo from Natura, Renato Velasquez from Presente, and Claudia Portocarrero from Manpower, they highlighted the role of fair recruitment in addressing barriers to decent work for LGBTQI+ persons.
Speakers emphasized the need for inclusive recruitment policies that protect rights, promote equal opportunities, and prevent discrimination throughout the employment cycle. The event served as a platform to strengthen multi-stakeholder collaboration in building workplaces that reflect diversity and equality in practice.
