The International Labour Organization (ILO), through its Better Regional Migration Management (BRMM) Programme, is supporting Private Recruitment Agencies (PrEAs) in Tanzania through targeted training sessions held in Dar es Salaam. The initiative aims to strengthen compliance with national regulations and promote fair and ethical recruitment practices.
The training focuses on key aspects of recruitment governance, including licensing requirements, monitoring obligations, contract transparency, and the application of the zero-fee recruitment principle. By reinforcing these standards, the sessions contribute to improving accountability and professionalism within the recruitment sector.
As labour migration continues to play an important role in Tanzania’s employment landscape, ensuring that recruitment processes are transparent and aligned with international labour standards remains essential. Strengthened compliance among recruitment agencies helps reduce disputes, prevent exploitation, and enhance the protection of migrant workers throughout the recruitment cycle.
Implemented under the BRMM Programme, funded by the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, the training forms part of broader regional efforts to improve labour migration governance across East and the Horn of Africa. By building the capacity of frontline actors such as recruitment agencies, the initiative supports the development of safer, more regular and rights-based migration pathways.
