The ILO has hosted a virtual Roundtable Discussion on access to justice for recruitment-related abuses, bringing together experts and practitioners to share their unique perspectives on challenges and good practices in this this field.

The webinar was facilitated by Ms. Miriam Boudraa (ITC-ILO Turin), and featured presentations by Mustafa Qadri, Director, Equidem Research and Consulting;  Dr. Jeevan Baniya, Assistant Director, Social Science Baha;  Suriya Nandhini, National Coordinator, Migrant Resource Centre, Malaysian Trades Union Congress;  Douglas MacLean, Executive Director, Justice without Borders; and  Vidhi Aggarwal, Lead, Labor and Human Rights Programs, Apple (Member of the ILO Global Business Network on Forced Labour).

Ensuring effective access to justice forms critical component of the ILO’s work on labour migration and fair recruitment. The ILO has worked to advance access to justice for migrant workers through a number of activities, including legislative review and analysis, capacity building of duty bearers, and information and awareness-raising among migrant workers, among other areas. Recently, access to justice has been recognized as a “priority area of focus” by the Fair Recruitment Initiative (FRI) Advisory Committee and is a Thematic focus of the FRI knowledge Hub.
